Assessments

Prospective children are offered a two day visit to the school, which enables the child, the parents and school to be secure in knowing that the placement is appropriate. During the visit a team consisting of an Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist will conduct formal assessments in addition to informal teacher observations.

The child joins a class for two days and takes part in a normal school day.  The have the opportunity to see if they enjoy coming to the school.  They should wear their own school uniform or comfortable clothing.  Lunch and snacks are provided.

A case conference with the parents is then held at the end of the two day visit to discuss the holistic profile of the child’s strengths and needs.  This usually last for about 45 minutes.
