Creative Mentors Exhibition

The two Creative Mentors: Tomasz Crompton and Nienke Van Wijk are graduates of the Royal College of Art. Tomasz studied Architecture and Nienke is a filmmaker. Tomasz worked with year 9 (Cruise) and Nienke worked with year 6 (Roddick) and year 7 (Picasso).

The year 9 exhibition was titled ‘ idencity’ , bringing together the terms ‘identity’, ‘den’ and ‘city’. The works include mappings of the city, collages based on individual identity, models made by bringing together two different forms to make an architectural proposal, stencils and stickers using street means of communication and photographic records of the whole working process.

The films started from the notion of metamorphosis and developed in different directions in the hands of each of the four groups.  Hence the appearance of a butterfly or wings in all works. The titles of the films were ‘the wanderer’ and ‘the test’ by year 7 and ‘daydreams’ and ‘rebirth’ by year 6.
