The children at Fairley House recently had a visit from Dr Toby Baring who is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
Dr Baring, who is also dyslexic, gave a valuable insight into what his job entailed with the aid of an extremely interesting film of a helicopter rescue and subsequent operation.
He then, much to the amusement of the pupils, proceeded to put Jackie Murray, the Principal’s arm in plaster. He was assisted by Barnaby Woods who had left Fairley House in the summer. Dr Baring then demonstrated how the plaster could be safely removed with a special circular saw!
