Trip to Duxford

Thursday 20 May – KS2 Trip to Duxford

Years 4 and 5 enjoyed an educational, sunny and adventurous day out at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford on Thursday. This was organised by Wendy Kiernan, Science co-ordinator who, with her long association and personal contacts with the museum, ensured the children all enjoyed, and were able to participate in, a wide range of activities.  The children were excited to handle the birds of prey, especially one that had actually made his starry debut in a Harry Potter movie!

They watched the Spitfire fly overhead as they ate lunch in the glorious sunshine. The highlights of the day had to be making the rockets which they later set off outdoors and taking a flight on the Dragon Rapide, one of the best-loved pre-war aircraft. Many of the children said it was the best school trip they had ever experienced. The teachers thoroughly enjoyed themselves too and were reluctant to return to school at the end of the day.
