Course summary:
This course is designed for education professionals who are working to support learners with Specific Learning Difficulties. (Dyslexia).
The statistics reveal that there are at least 2 to 3 pupils who have Dyslexia in each school classromm. There are many more who will have reading, writing, spelling or numeracy difficulties and may be at risk of having Dyslexia. The risks, barriers and indicators for Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) will be explored and developed during the course. The attendees will also consider other Specific Learning Difficulties which often co-occur with Dyslexia.
Attendance:
There is a minimum attendance requirement of 80% for all lecturs and tutorials. Candidates attend 20 three-hour evening sessions and complete two teaching practices, plus individual or small group tutorial sessions during the year.
Course run by:
Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Specialist teachers all contribute to the course.
Entry requirements:
Level 5 Diploma: Educated to degree level or have Qualified Teacher Status. Those who have completed Level 3 OCR Certificate and LSA/TAs with relevent experience will be considered.
Location:
30 Causton Street, London, SW1P 4AU. Wednesday evenings 4.30pm to 7.00pm.
Assessment:
The qualification contains a combination of externally and internally assessed units. Candidates complete course work and undertake practical teaching practice.

£2900 for September 2012
